IC (In Character) Rules
In character is when you're roleplaying as your very own created OC (Original Character). These are the set of rules you need to follow when posting IC.
In character is when you're roleplaying as your very own created OC (Original Character). These are the set of rules you need to follow when posting IC.
- Never write in 1st person. Seriously. It's not very descriptive and at times written very sloppily and doesn't sound very professional. 1st person is when the author writes with words like "i" "me" "myself" and is when the narrator is telling the story from their point of view. Always write in 3rd person, it doesn't matter which type of 3rd you do (there's omniscient and limited), but make sure you're posting with words like "Butler made the mess" "She'd just gotten out of bed" or "the stranger held a knife with blood dripping from the blade." Basically you tell the story yourself as if you're a stalker watching your character from afar and describing everything that happens to them.
- Be descriptive. Instead of saying, "Butler was sad and crying 'cause her daddy died." rephrase it by adding in-depth detail and words that make the reader feel. How about trying, "Butler collapsed and fell to her knees, just the heaviness of her own weight being too much to handle. Her heart felt as if it were being squeezed by a million tiny hands at once. Tears fell down the girl's bright red cheeks like waterfalls. Depression, the thought of her father suffering so much before his own life ended, completely took over. She was no longer acting... doing what she wanted. Instead of controlling her own emotions, they were no controlling her, and Butler succumbed to their never ending and suffocating grasp. It just seemed simple to let go of having to handle such grief. Simple to not care about anything except herself so that anybody who attempted to get close to her like her father had once been would just leave her alone to wallow in pathetic misery."
- The minimum to every post IC is 2 paragraphs. This is so one-liners and non-descriptive posts are avoided, as well as providing a reasonable reply your RP partner(s) can read and respond to. Each paragraph should consist of at least 6 sentences. So 12 sentences in all, it's not that hard, a little too easy actually. If you find yourself out of muse then give it a day. If you just dislike or find the thread you're participating in, at least pump out basic sentences, and be careful to only join/create threads that you'll stick to and are interested in.
- Quality over Quantity. On this site you're expected to make decent posts with decent lengths. Try not to respond to a 1000+ word post or thread with a post that's just over the 2 paragraph limit. Actually attempt to create a pleasing post that compliments all the hard work put into the other RPers post. Just remember having plenty of words doesn't always mean your post is perfect. There's still detail and all that mumbo-jumbo that're critically effective and important.. Run a spell check and read over your posts before submitting them, and always remember there's an edit button. Don't forget to check for grammar errors too.
- Stray true to your character. You worked hard to create your character and develop their personality, don't blow it. Try your best not to seem OOC (Out Of Character). If you don't know what your Creepypasta OC would do in a certain situation, go back and read up the journal you submitted for them, and attempt to recreate the situation considering their flaws, virtues, weakness, strengths, etc. It helps a lot to go back and refresh your memory with what your character is like.
- Please, no insta-romances. Insta-romancing is when two characters get together for no reason. Think middle-school relationships. Sure, characters can have crushes, or believe it's love at first sight, but please. Would you get together with someone you just met? No. I don't think so. It takes time, knowledge, and friendship before two normal people actually attempt what we call "dating". If a relationship is rocky, then go ahead and end it, don't pretend like the relationship is perfect. Remember: Not every CP is "drop-dead sexy". I'm sure if I saw Jeff I'd think, "Ew... his mouth tho." and then run instead of fantasizing of him with his shirt off.
OOC (Out Of Character) Rules
Out of character is when you're not posting in the roleplaying area (A World Full of Inhumane People) or when you're not posting in a fan-created roleplay and the only time you won't be acting as your character. The OOC areas are where you can speak as yourself and talk about whatever.
Mature Content
I understand that for some, mature content is a big deal. I don't mind it myself, since I've read my fair share of yaoi, but I know that some RPers can be 13 or even younger. If you have to have a mature content thread that goes above and beyond cursing, a simple kiss, extended hugged *wink wink nudge*, then title the thread [R] for rated R, [M] for mature content, or [NC-17], whichever applies. If you need to ask an admin if your thread should be marked so go ahead, but that question most likely means it indeed does need to be titled like so. Just put the [M] or whatever you're gonna use in front of the title of the thread so it's immediately known what's going on in said thread. Just no child porn, 'kay? That means a 30 year old flirting with a 7 year old... that's just weird. I don't care if that 7 year old is immortal, step away, bruh. Also, before making a thread with mature content, make sure the other RPer is okay with that. Don't wanna force someone else to do something they feel uncomfortable or just don't want to do in the first place.

- The Golden Rule. We all know this one. "Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you." This basically means be kind to other people when speaking because you don't like to be treated badly, nobody does. I don't care if their roleplaying character stole your character's baby's mama, still treat them with respect, along with everyone else. Just because someone is rude, sadistic, and an overall bitch IC, it doesn't mean that they are (or maybe they are but hide it well) like that IRL (In Real Life).
- Patience is a virtue. Even though I lack this "virtue" completely I would appreciate it if you could at least attempt to be patient. This applies while awaiting roleplay posts from other members, or waiting for your character journal to be accepted. Even though I'm quick and active, and that there's another admin, it doesn't mean your journal will be accepted 1 hour after you've created it. Or maybe it will. It also doesn't mean an RPer will always reply ASAP because some of us have lives, school, jobs, etc. It all depends, which is why I ask you remain patient at all times.
- Image Sizes. I don't care how big your avatar is, so long as it isn't extremely thick (has a very high width). Square or rectangle pictures are recommended and the best option, but it's all up to you. If any of the admins see a problem with your avatar pic we'll send you a quick PM asking you to pick another. Keep signatures about 500x500 at the most. Width isn't really a problem, but height is. Don't create an annoyingly large signature because it's tiring to scroll past all that. Just sayin'.
- Let staff be staff. This rule just means don't act as staff in the shoutbox or in a PM. Sure, if you know something well go ahead and inform another member of it (such as what events are going on at the time) but don't go and tell them their journal isn't accepted. Leave the people actually appointed to the position to handle things like that.
- Know where to post. I probably shouldn't have to mention this but I feel the need to. Don't post a reply to someone's journal saying, "this sucks" or "good job". Only that person and staff are allowed to reply to said journal. Also don't post in private threads if you haven't been invited. That's just weird and you may be issued with a warning depending on the circumstances. Always make sure you're replying to the correct thread and make sure to apologize if you accidentally post a reply to one thread in another thread. *If you've actually read this far, put "You left me here like a chalk outline." or "I'm not a pushover." somewhere in your character journal. It doesn't matter where exactly but make it noticeable.
- Keep arguments private, don't make others feel uncomfortable. I understand if an argument is proper, such as agreeing on views, but if it becomes out of hand please take it to PM's. Try your best to keep the shoutbox drama-free, as hard as that is. If a heated topic is arising or if someone is getting bullied, say something to the bully, or at least attempt to change the subject. You won't get in trouble for trying to stop an argument, but you will if you're actually in it, and add to the heat. PM an admin if something has gone wrong or if you feel uncomfortable. Being pervy is okay, because I'm a fellow pervert when it comes to cbox, but please refrain from being too sexual for someone's liking. If another member asks you to stop if you're being pervy or just plain rude, then stop. Don't make things worse.
- No Face-claiming. Face-claiming, or FC, is when you take a famous character or celebrity and say that's what your character looks like, then use their pics in signatures and as an avatar. This site is about creativity and creating a unique OC, with different looks and personality, so let's refrain from using an FC please. *RANDOM ARTOWORK IS ALLOWED* This means if you find art that isn't an OC for a fandom or fan-art, then go ahead and use it if you don't have a drawing for your Creepypasta OC.
- Create an account. I probably shouldn't have to add this but c'mon people, create an account for your character before submitting a journal, or post any way for that matter. For each alt account you have, create a new account. Also, you may not create another character and create another account until you've posted at least 5 times IC and have been on the site for a week.
